115 of 210 : Pick Temple

Even though I’d already been on Romper Room, I found myself on the Pick Temple Show, a local Western-themed kid’s show. Those of us in the onstage Peanut Gallery saw what went on behind the scenes in making a television show, and I wasn’t alone in finding it terribly disillusioning.

You were such the little child star. And your subsequent fall, like so many, was in the cards, I'd imagine.

It's a sad tale, old as television itself.

What happened back stage? Was it like seeing a big costumed cartoon character with its head off? I hear that's tough on little kids...

This is a neat idea for a blog!

Sorry, Ellocin1, I missed your comment earlier. It was disillusioning because backstage the star was just a regular guy, obviously an actor, not a neat cowboy. The cameras and sound guys were very intrusive, and it was all so much of a set, and had no pretense of being a real place. At least Romper Room was more realistic.
