45 of 210 : Abcde
I know of a girl named Placenta (her mother heard the word in the hospital—thought it sounded pretty), and another named VulvaMae. Now a friend reports that a woman in Philly has named her newborn son “Abcde.” Pronounced AB-suh-dee. “So he'll always know how to spell it,” she explains.

OK. I know I just said in Deloney's blog that I'm going to go edit birth control copy, but this time I mean it. Placenta and VulvaMae have convinced me. Good news is I know how to spell all those terms...
I always wanted a more exotic name, but now I'm kind of glad I didn't get what I wished for.
A friend who used to work for the Department of Children and Families has met children named Lemonjello and Orangejello (pronounced as if they were Italian, "le-MON-gel-oh" and "or-ON-gel-oh"). There were also quite a number named Female (pronounced "feh-MAH-lee"). When asked why they named them Female, each of the mothers said they didn't name their children, the hospital did--that was the name on the bracelet given to the babies in the maternity ward.
True Story - Mr. And Mrs. Booth were regulars at a convenience store. When Asked what they named their newborn baby they answered Courtesy. That is just sick!
